Things to Do in Isla Mujeres: A 3-Day Local Guide

July 14, 2026 · 8 min read

Eight kilometres of Caribbean, one walking street, no rush. You could see Isla Mujeres in a day trip — but three days is when the island really opens up. This is how we would spend them, from our door on Av. Hidalgo.

Day 1: The north end on foot

Start with coffee at Rubén's, then walk 10 minutes to Playa Norte — shallow, turquoise, and consistently ranked among the best beaches in the Caribbean. Swim, wade, repeat. In the late afternoon wander the walking street: galleries, taquerías and shops right outside the hotel. Finish with sunset from our rooftop pool.

Day 2: The island by golf cart

Rent a golf cart (we arrange one at the hotel) and do the classic loop south: the Tortugranja turtle farm, panoramic cliffs at Punta Sur with the temple of the Mayan goddess Ixchel, and Mexico's first sunrise point. Stop for a seafood lunch on the east coast, then spend the afternoon at Zama Beach Club — included with every Florita 39 stay, no minimum spend.

Day 3: On and under the water

Pick your water day: snorkel the reef, visit MUSA (the underwater sculpture museum), or head out with a local captain for sport fishing. Between mid-May and mid-September, this is also whale shark territory — swimming beside the largest fish in the sea is a bucket-list morning.

If you have more time

  • Massage day at the hotel spa, treatments by appointment.
  • Sunset sailing around the north point.
  • A slow morning at the malecón watching fishermen bring in the catch.
