Only have one day for Isla Mujeres? It can be a great day — the island is small enough to taste properly between two ferries. Here is the plan we give friends, hour by hour.
The perfect day, timed
- 8:00 — Ferry from Puerto Juárez (full ferry guide). Sit on the top deck.
- 8:30 — Breakfast on the walking street: coffee and chilaquiles at Rubén's, three minutes from the dock.
- 9:30 — Rent a golf cart and run the southern loop: Tortugranja, the east-coast viewpoints, and Punta Sur before the midday heat.
- 13:00 — Seafood lunch back in the centre — tikin xic if it is on the menu (food guide).
- 14:30 — Playa Norte: swim, float, do nothing. This is what you came for.
- 18:30 — Marquesita in hand, walk the golden hour, catch a sunset ferry back with salt still on your skin.
What to skip on a day trip

The honest postscript
Ask anyone who has done this day: the ferry back is where the plan cracks. The island is at its best before 10 am and after 5 pm — exactly the hours day-trippers never see.
