Isla Mujeres sits just 13 kilometres off Cancún, and getting here is easier than most first-timers expect: a short ferry ride and you step off into a car-free island centre. Here is the route we recommend to our guests.
Step 1: Airport to Puerto Juárez
From Cancún airport, take an authorized taxi, a private transfer or an ADO bus downtown and continue to Puerto Juárez — the main ferry terminal, about 45 minutes from the airport. Puerto Juárez has the most frequent departures and the shortest crossing, so we recommend it over the Hotel Zone piers unless you are already staying there.
Step 2: The Ultramar ferry
Ultramar crossings from Puerto Juárez take 15–20 minutes, with departures roughly every half hour from early morning (around 5:30 am) until about 11 pm. A round-trip ticket costs approximately $450 MXN for adults and $300 MXN for children — check current fares and schedules on the operator's site before you travel, and buy online in high season (December–April) to skip the lines.
Step 3: Ferry terminal to the hotel
This is the best part. Florita 39 is on Av. Miguel Hidalgo, the walking street in the heart of the centre — a 3-minute walk from the ferry terminal. No taxi needed: step off the boat, roll your suitcase past the plaza, and you are home. Check-in starts at 3:00 pm, and our team is happy to hold your bags if you arrive early.
Practical tips
- Ferries run rain or shine; crossings are only rarely cancelled for strong north winds in winter.
- Traveling with kids? The ferry has indoor seating and open-air upper decks — sit up top for the view of the island coming in.
- There is no need to bring a car. The island is small, walkable, and our concierge rents golf carts right at the hotel.
